Grandad, or should I say Dad, as you where more like my dad than grandad, we did things together
that fathers and daughters do, such as going on holidays to Wales, playing cards and spending real
quality time together when we could. You were the person I always looked up to, the way you
organised your life, your values and priciples and the fact that you where truly an honest person,
sometimes brutally honest, but nevertheless everyone always knew where they stood with you. My
thoughts play back to the times when you baked your own bread, and also the way you used to get
emotional when listening to your favourite music by Mario Lanza. I feel I have lost a part of myself
now your gone, and even though times where hard, especially the last year, I know that you lived your
life the way you wanted, and you wouldnt have changed a thing. I do wish you where awake the last
time I saw you in hospital, even just to say goodbye, but you where too tired as illness overcome
you. I just wanted you to know that you where the best grandad and dad anyone could have had, and
even though the pain I feel for your loss is immense, I have some comfort knowing that you are
reunited with your wife, my Gran and that someday we will be reunited. Goodnight Grandad, my
thoughts and love are always with you, your grandaughter Susan xxx
Dear Bernard,
Or should I say 'Grandad'. You were truely a very special man.I adopted you as my Grandad because you said that would be o.k.
My memories of you are still very strong.Although I didnt see all that much of you when I did see you, you always made me laugh ( not easy sometimes!!)
Your lovely bread you made although it was precious you always made me some too, which was always ate and enjoyed.
Susan, Paul and the Girls I know are thinking of you alot but as in life I know your always be there for them to guide and help. I'm so proud to have meet you and your Green beret Its an endearing image which I shall never forget.
Thanks Bernard for making the world a happier place.
